Matchday 6 of the World Cup saw England, Tunisia and Gambia win; South Korea and Honduras played out just the third draw of the tournament.

Gambia beat France in Mendoza to qualify for the Round of 16 and leave the French on the brink of elimination.

With the matches in zones E and F, England and Gambia won their respective matches to secure qualification to the Round of 16 alongside Argentina, USA, Colombia and Nigeria.

The team coached by Marcelo Broli will decide whether or not they will continue in the tournament on the last matchday against Tunisia, who beat Iraq 3-0 in the second round with goals from Youssef Snana, Chaïm El Djebali and Mahmoud Ghorbel, all in the second half. The Iraqis finished bottom and almost out of the last 16.

England defeated Uruguay 3-2 in the most important game of the day at the Estadio Único Diego Armando Maradona in La Plata in Group E. Bashir Humphreys and Alfie Devine gave the European team the lead and Franco Gonzalez scored for the South Americans at the start of the second half. Darko Gyabi sealed the win for Ian Foster's side, but moments later Matias Abaldo put the game beyond doubt for the East Asians, closing the gap on the South Americans.

In F, the Africans stunned France 2-1 at the Malvinas Argentinas stadium in Mendoza. Lee's second defeat of the campaign left them on the brink of elimination. Tanguy Zoukrou scored an own goal and Mamin Sanyang scored for Gambia, while Wilson Odobert equalised for the French, who can only reach the last 16 as one of the best third-placed teams if they beat Honduras on the final matchday.

The Central Americans, meanwhile, picked up their first point with a 2-2 draw against South Korea. David Ruiz opened the scoring for the Hondurans on 21 minutes from the penalty spot before being sent off five minutes later by South African referee Abongile Tom. Even with a player down, the team extended their lead in the second half through Isaac Castillo, but they could not hold on as the Asians equalised with goals from Kim Yong-Hak and Park Seung-Ho to take a vital step towards qualification with the bottom two teams facing off on the final matchday.
