HIS WORDS ARE SURE

"I am the Lord's servant, 'Mary answered,' May it be to me as you have said'" (Luke 1:38, NIV)

Until Gabriel's unexpected visit, Mary's life was quite satisfactory. She had recently become engaged to a carpenter, Joseph, and was anticipating married life. However, her life was about to change forever and that for good.

Angels don't usually secure appointment before visiting. Mary found the angel's greeting puzzling and his presence frightening. What she heard next was the news almost every woman in Israel would have longed to hear-that her child will be the Messiah, God promised Savior. Mary did not doubt the message, but rather asked how pregnancy would be possible since she was a virgin. Angel Gabriel told her the baby would be God's son since she was going to be conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, her answer was: "I am the Lord's servant.... May it be to me as you have said" (Luke 1:38).

How often has God's word come suddenly to us but we shun or make light of them. The experience of Zachariah was just similar to that of Mary but his response was rather in doubt. God's promises are sure and as well certain. He says in Isaiah 55:11, "For as the rain comes down and the snow from heaven, and give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to me void but it shall accomplish what I please and it shall prosper on the thing for which I sent it."

Again he says in Jeremiah 1:12 "... I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled." Stop doubting God's word, just believe and His word shall come to pass in your life. Like Mary, let us not hesitate to say to Him," I am your servant, be it unto me according to your word."

Until we accept His Word, it cannot work in, and for us.
